Winter Storm Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Stuck inside because of a winter storm? Did the alert on your phone wake you up in the morning? Then it’s the perfect day for you to make this cinnamon swirl bread! Simple ingredients that you should already have in your cupboard and fridge so you don’t have to run to the grocery store like everyone else trying to stock up on the basics! This bread is easy to make and tastes delicious on a cold snowy day. You can even make 2 loaves and share one with your neighbor (if you like them) 🙂

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 c. white sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/3 c. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix 1/3 cup sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
  3. Combine flour, remaining 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl. Combine egg, milk, oil, and vanilla and almond extracts (if you’re using them) in a separate bowl. Add to flour mixture and stir until just moistened.
  4. Pour 1/2 of the batter in prepared pan. Sprinkle with half of the cinnamon sugar mixture. Repeat with the remaining batter and cinnamon sugar mixture. Draw a knife through the batter to marble.
  5. Bake in the oven for 45-50 minutes; until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
  6. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing and placing on a wire rack to cool completely. Wrap in foil and let sit overnight before slicing, or if you’re like me and lack patience, just dive on in!
