Veal Ragu

Veal ragu is a rich and flavorful Italian dish that is sure to impress any dinner guest. It’s a classic comfort food made with tender veal, aromatic vegetables, and savory herbs and spices. The combination of slow-cooked meat and tangy tomato sauce is perfect for a cozy night in or a fancy dinner party.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground veal
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • splash of white wine
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • dash of basil
  • 1 lb. campanelle pasta
  • fresh parmesan cheese (topping)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in large skillet. Add veal, brown for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add carrot, onion, and bay leaf.
  3. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 4-5 minutes.
  4. Add wine, cook for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add broth to skillet, reduce to low.
  6. Stir in tomatoes and bring to a bubble.
  7. Add basil, remove bay leaf.
  8. Cook pasta.
  9. Toss hot, drained pasta with 1/2 cup cheese.
  10. Pour sauce over pasta.
